So you’ve read about Wii Fit and me. What you didn’t read about was me totally falling off the weight loss wagon this winter.

Any pound I lost is definitely back. I’ve been too scared to weigh myself to find out for sure. So 2009 is going to be the year to GET SERIOUS. I always had a hard time working out everyday because I am lazy, and really value my time on the couch. My time on the couch is killing me slowly, however, so I am going to give that up.

Eating has always been a source of entertainment and emotional comfort for me. If I need emotional support I’m going to count on Joey, and if push comes to shove, medication. I can’t be this fat anymore.

So day 1, of GETTIN’ SERIOUS:
I had 2 eggs and 1 piece of dry toast for breakfast.
For lunch I’m having some vegetable soup that is only 100 calories for 2 cups’ worth.

When I get home I’m doing a Pilates video, and then eating a bowl of vegetarian chili and a small salad.. We are following the Sonoma Diet, yet again. I like it because, if followed correctly, it teaches you life-long changes you can make to not only lose weight, but improve your overall health. It’s one of the few plans out there that isn’t a “get thin quick” scheme.

Here’s how my exercise schedule will go:
Sunday: Pilates
Monday: Cardiovascular Exercise (Wii Fit or DDR)
Tuesday: Cardio
Wednesday: Pilates + Cardio
Thursday: Cardio
Friday: Cardio
Saturday: Pilates

This may severely cut into my personal time, but I’m fed up. I only get one life to live, and one body to live it in, and I’m finally ready to be serious about weight loss. Instead of looking at it as a chore, I’m going to look at it as the best gift I could possibly give myself.

  1. Good luck! You can do it! You sir, will have no problems finding opportunities and a wide audience as a writer. You’ve been an amazing writer since high school. So witty with a natural ability to build a narrative. I say, start looking for some freelance work now. Why wait? 🙂
